Class Structure & Descriptions
Dance Plus Inc. offers technical classes in two forms: Combination and Specialty.3 Combination classes will be required to invest in multiple costumes; which varies on the level of the class (some may be brand new costumes, some may be created). Specialty classes will be required to invest in only one costume (purchased or created).
COMBINATION CLASS . . . consists of Lyrical Ballet, Tap, and Jazz techniques; levels ranging from beginner to advanced. Tumbling will be offered in place of Jazz for some of the beginner classes – age based. Classes are offered in 1 hour 20 minutes, 1 hour 30 minutes, and 2 hour sessions. Dancer must be evaluated and placed in the appropriate class for their age and skill level. Leotard and tights are the required class attire.
SPECIALTY CLASS . . . consists of concentrated instruction on one specific technique. Classes are offered in 1 hour sessions. Classes are open to all dancers. The following list details Specialty classes that we currently offer.
*Tumbling ~ Class instructs floor and mini-tramp tumbling skills; covering basic acrobatic technique with a progression to power tumbling. Much focus is placed on flexibility and strength improvement. Class is offered in two levels: Level I (Beginner/Intermediate) and Level II (Advanced = Must be able to do a standing back handspring.). Bare feet are required. Ages 3 and up.
*Performance Cheer & Pom ~ Class instructs the basics of proper cheer movement and Pom-Pon dance technique. Basic stunting and tumbling is included. Focus is placed on sharp movement and group precision. This class will be offered in two levels: Level I (Beginner/Intermediate) and Level II (Advanced). Dancer must be evaluated and placed in the appropriate level class. Tennis shoes and Jazz shoes are required. Ages 4 and up.
*Musical Theater ~ Class instructs the collaboration of vocal and acting technique with basic dance choreography. Ages 8 and up.
*Hip-Hop ~ Class instructs Hip-Hop technique and style. This class will be offered in two levels: Level I (Beginner/Intermediate) and Level II (Advanced). Dancer must be evaluated and placed in the appropriate level class. Tennis shoes or Jazz shoes are required. Ages 4 and up.
*Modern ~ Class instructs the basics of the modern technique, which is an opposition to classical ballet. Focus on off balance and free flow movement. Ages 12 and up.
*Classical Ballet ~ Class instructs classical ballet technique with traditional music and style. Burghandy leotard, theatrical pink tights and pink ballet shoes are the required attire.
*Adult Fitness ~ Class is designed for adults. Structure will consist of Lo-Impact Aerobics (Cardiovascular), Sculpting/Toning, Yoga, and Pilates techniques. This is a fitness class that will not include learned choreography. Tennis shoes are required.
*Praise ~ Class uses Lyrical technique and movement to express praise. Ages 10 and up.
*Drumline ~ Class instructs precision, unity and basic percussion cadences; learning all of the instruments in a drumline. Ages 10 and up.
*Salsa ~ Class covers a number of different dance styles that originated from Latin America (Salsa, Suave Bachata, Rapida Punta, Cumbia, Merengue, and Cha Cha) **Coming Soon** |
